MANURE SALE MEETING- MONDAY FEB 27, 2012 TCC AT 6:30 PM. MANDATORY ATTENDANCE FOR ALL ATHLETES AND PARENTS IN THE CLUB.
THIS IMPORTANT MEETING IS TO DISCUSS OUR UPCOMING SALE AND GIVE YOU THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR WHAT YOUR DUTIES WILL BE TO HELP OUR FUNDRAISER TO BE SUCCESSFUL. WE HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THIS SALE SINCE DECEMBER AND OUR SPONSORSHIP IS ALL IN PLACE, AND WE HAVE HALF OUR MANURE BAGGED ALREADY. SOON OUR MAIL OUT WILL HAPPEN AND WE WILL BE TAKING ORDERS.

Vote now for the winner of the Best of BC Award, presented by the Province of British Columbia.
Dylan Armstrong achieved Canada’s first athletics (track and field) gold medal at the XVI Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico in October 2011. At the Pan American Games, his 21.30 meter throw established a new Pan American Games record, secured gold and successfully defended his title.
His 2011 results include No.1 at the Meeting International d’Athlétisme Moulay el Hassan, the Diamond League, and the Samsung Diamond League in Italy and in Qatar. Armstrong also achieved No. 2 at the IAAF World Championships in both Korea and Croatia. At 30 years old, Armstrong has a deserved reputation as a Canadian champion with the London Olympics in sight.

Justin Rodhe meets World Indoor Standard - Justin Rodhe who trains at the Kamloops National Throws Centre met the world indoor standard in the shot put on Saturday January 14 at The Lumberjack Invitational at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. The qualifying period ends on Feb 26 and Rodhe has qaulifed pending another athlete throwing farthur before then. If that does not happen, Rodhe will be eligible for selection to the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul, Turkey, March 9-11. Athletics Canada will announce the team after Feb 26/2012.

The finalists for Sport BC's 46th Annual Athlete of the Year Award have been announced. Congratulations go out to Dylan Armstrong and to Dr. Anatoly Bondarchuk for being included among those nominated. The Winners will be recognized at the ceremony on March 8, 2012 at the River Rock Show Theatre in Richmond. For more information, see the complete press release from Sport BC.
On Feb. 12, a Level 2 officials’ clinic will be held at the TCC from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please bring a notebook and a pen. Lunch will be provided. For further information or to register, call 250-372-9640.
One last reminder to get your 2012 BC Athletics membership done as quickly as possible.
Your 2011 membership will expire on December 31, 2011 and there is no grace period that carries over to the new year.
In order for your performances to be recognized provincially and nationally you must have a competitive membership in place at the time the performance is achieved. Your membership must also be in place to receive all other related benefits.
Club athletes should renew through their club Registrar and Unattached athletes can renew their memberships through the on-line membership form available on the BC Athletics website. A printable form is also available.
